Student Awards


Molly S. Megraw, an interdisciplinary engineering major, was presented with the Junior Faculty Medal for academic achievement as the top scholar in the 1993-94 junior class of 7,564 students. The award was presented on March 31 by UW President William P. Gerberding. Molly's academic advisor is Professor Martin C. Berg.
One of this year's winners of the ASME student paper competition was Travis Melser. Melser's winning paper was on salt water disposal.
Scott Thielman was awarded best paper in Section FM14 at the 1995 American Control Conference in Seattle. The paper, co-authored by ME Professor Brian C. Fabien, was entitled "Experimental Application of an Observer-based Feedback Linearizing Controller to an Electromagnetic Suspension."
