Preparing for Graduate School
While completing your undergraduate degree
- Work on a research project with a professor or develop an independent study project.
- Investigate specialty areas within graduate programs.
- Talk to friends, teaching assistants (TAs), professors, and family about grad school, and research grad schools on line (see links below to get started).
- Call grad schools and request information.
- Start a credential file in the Career Services Office for your letters of recommendation.
- Visit Grad Schools. Ask your professors for contacts at the universities you are interested in visiting.
- The University of Washington Women in Engineering Initiative Program offers Graduate School Workshops for anyone interested. If you are considering graduate school sometime in the future you should attend.
