Biography

Professor Devasia's research and teaching interests include controls, dynamics, and mechatronics, with applications in ultra-high-density information storage, nano-fabrication, bio-instrumentation, and distributed autonomous systems.

The goal of current research efforts is to achieve high-precision output tracking by exploiting the known system model through an inversion-based approach. Such efforts include output tracking through switches in system parameters, and output-trajectory optimization for systems with actuator constraints and bandwidth limitations.

Applications of this research include vibration compensation in piezo-based positioning systems for emerging nano-technologies, biomedical applications like Hyperthermia Cancer treatment, chemical-processing applications like minimizing off-specification products in polymer-manufacturing, and high-precision guidance of aerospace systems.
