Biography

Professor Wilson's research has focused on manufacturing and tribology. He is particularly interested in friction, lubrication and surface generation in metal forming processes. His paper "Friction and Lubrication in Sheet Metal Forming" won an Arch T. Colwell Award from SAE in 1993. He also co-authored the paper "A Realistic Friction Model for Computer Simulation of Sheet Metal Forming Processes" which won the ASME Blackall award in 1996. He is also interested in various applications of computers in manufacturing and design. Professor Wilson is a Fellow of both ASME and SME and past President of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute of SME.
