Professor George Vlases Joins ME Faculty

Research Professor George C. Vlases joined the faculty last summer. He will be conducting research at the Redmond Plasma Physics Laboratory. From 1989 to 1998 he was Counselor and Scientific Advisor to the Director, Joint European TORUS (JET) project, in Abingdon, United Kingdom. His research there was in the area of scrape-off layer (SOL) and divertor physics. He was Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Washington from 1969 to 1989, leaving the faculty for England following the dissolution of UW's department of Nuclear Engineering.
