Salary Negotiations
Interviewing and Job Offer Negotiations SuccessSuccessful job offer negotiation.
In salary negotiations you should not state your salary figure, expected salary or current salary FIRST. Alternative answers to an interviewer who asks you what you expect for a salary:
- What salary range did you have in mind?
- What had you budgeted for this position?
- Based on a salary survey I've done for someone with my background and qualifications in this type of position, I believe the salary range would be about $ to $. Does that sound about right?
Don't accept a salary offer on the spot. Ask for time to review the offer and make an appointment for the next meeting.
If you accept the job, request a letter to confirm the job offer, job title, salary and benefits agreed upon, start date, and whom to report to and when.
