Biography

Professor Jorgensen's research centers around system dynamics, controls, and instrumentation related to manufacturing automation and automated assembly processes.

Research involves precision motion control with electrohydraulic actuation; the development of simulation, control concepts, and design algorithms for precision motion control; automated assembly and design for manufacture; the development of algorithms and procedures for the design of parts and products to optimize the product producibility (minimized total cost). In addition, he is looking for procedures to design the production and assembly systems consistent with product definition costs.

Prior research has been done in the areas of hydraulic systems simulation and design; design and simulation of the performance of forest harvesting systems; automated assembly of electronic and electromechanical products, instrumentation of in-process measurement of surface finish and part geometry.
