Biography

Dr. Xu's research has focused on electroactive polymers (EAPs), electrochromic polymers (ECPs) and their devices. The EAPs are basically centered on their electrically driven mechanical property-deformation, the ECPs on their electrically induced optical property-color. These intelligent materials are believed to have wide applications in the field of actuator, sensor, switchable shutter, smart window, robotics, etc. Development of a new rapid diagnosis system based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) with digital window for early detection of cancer symptoms is her other research area. Xu's team also works on development of new solar cells and rechargeable batteries.
