ME Graduate Visitation Day

We are pleased that you have chosen to consider UW Mechanical Engineering for your graduate studies! Choosing a graduate school is a difficult decision and a major commitment. We hold our annual Graduate Student Visit Day with the goal of helping you make this decision in the most informed way possible.

In 2024, we will hold our Graduate Visit Day on Friday, March 29th on campus.

A link and schedule for the 2024 Visit Day will be sent to all students prior to the event.

Admitted students with questions about the 2024 Visit Day may contact the counseling services team at megrad@uw.edu

Visitation Day frequently-asked questions

Students offered admission to a degree program (MS or PhD) for autumn quarter are invited to attend Visit Day.

Please note that the primary audience for Visit Day is admitted students. Students traveling to Seattle with friends or family members are asked to attend any Visit Day events independently. Unfortunately, we cannot assist in planning alternate activities or provide spaces for partners, dependents, or others.

Yes, all admitted students attending Visit Day must RSVP no later than Friday, March 15th, 2024. We require your RSVP so we may build you a personalized schedule and account for you in catering and facility needs.

You should have received a link to your RSVP form to the email address associated with your application account. Please contact us directly if you cannot find your RSVP link.

Please review our travel reimbursement instructions here. Please note, reimbursement is only available for the admitted student. We cannot provide reimbursements to others who may be traveling with you.

You will have the chance to tell us about any allergies or dietary needs in your RSVP, as well as any accessibility details or accommodations you need. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly with any questions — we want your visit to be safe and comfortable.

The University District (UW's home neighborhood) has a large selection of accommodation options at a variety of price points and is very well-connected to other parts of Seattle by bus and rail. Some hotels nearby campus are listed on our Transportation and Hotel Information page (linked above), and students have also booked stays nearby through Airbnb or other short-term rental sites. Students are encouraged to explore a wide variety of accommodation options and price points.

We do not have a specific dress code that students are expected to follow. However, as Visit Day involves many opportunities to meet with faculty, you may wish to pack business casual clothes.

In any case, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as UW is a big campus and you will move between multiple buildings and locations.

At any time, you may contact the counseling services team, at megrad@uw.edu.
