Admission

BSME admission and enrollment statistics

Admission to Mechanical Engineering takes into account more than just cumulative and prerequisite GPAs. Applicants are also chosen on the basis of their personal statement, overall academic track record, and the potential for success as an ME major and in the profession.

We encourage prospective students to schedule an appointment with the undergraduate advising team to understand how to be a competitive applicant.

Upper-division admissions

ME enrollment data for 2021 through 2023. BSME historically had Upper-Division (UD) and Early Admissions (EA). Since 2019, admissions to the major have been through Upper Division Admissions (divided into interest changer and transfer students) and Direct-to-College Placement. DTC placement is a separate process on its own schedule, so it is not shown below. See Engineering Undeclared (ENGRUD) students placement data.
