Stay connected. Get involved.

Alumni are an essential part of the ME Department, whether they graduated last year or 50 years ago. Mentoring students, supporting industry collaboration, and being part of the vision to expand UW ME’s facilities are ways alumni help shape the future of the department.

Albert Kobayashi Lecture Series, early fall quarter
This lecture series was established to honor the work of Professor Albert Kobayashi, a world renowned expert in the fields of fracture mechanics, experimental stress analysis, and finite element analysis. His research has impacted the aerospace industry, the construction industry and healthcare. He is well-known internationally for his innovative "hybrid experimental and numerical method" for solving engineering problems. He has consulted with the National Science Foundation, Office of Naval Research, Air Force Propellant Laboratory and Boeing on issues of structural mechanics.
Engineering Innovation in Health Fall Showcase
The EIH Fall Showcase features the work of a dozen student teams that have been collaborating with clinical mentors throughout the quarter to define and solve unmet challenges in healthcare. Students will share lightning pitches and 6-7 teams are down-selected for continuation into winter and spring quarters.
